It’s the time of the year to unwind yourself at some of the best weekend getaways near Mumbai because its Monsoonnnnn. It is often believed that ‘Aamchi Mumbai’ never sleeps but one of the most remarkable feature about this vibrant city is that in return of all the hard work, it offers some of the best destinations to all stressed out Mumbaikars around it. We were recently searching for a place on the internet where there was peace, nature and a luxurious experience that could fit our budget (Rs 30000 for 6) and that’s when Soma Vine Village happened to us.

Located along the edge of the backwaters of Gangapur Dam, as it flows majestically by the pastoral hamlet surrounded by the magnificent Sahyadri Ranges, Soma Vine Village has been lovingly crafted for your indulgence on a stress free vacation.
Our Trip begin from Mumbai at 8:00Am
Soma Vine Village is 175 Km (Approximately) from Mumbai, making it a perfect getaway for Weekends. With a perfect weather, we were set to leave from Mumbai and explore this beautiful serene property of Soma Vine Village in Nashik. We reached the property at 12pm where we were welcomed with a glass of Rose Wine by Soma.
Glistening ruby pink in color this rose is an outcome of Shiraz harvested from our single estate vineyard that makes you stare at your glass in ‘awe’. Offers lusty notes of pomegranate, cherry, strawberry characters, it is simultaneously curvy and kicks in with a vein of spice and cherries with a long lasting finish.
Food Pairing: Perfect on its own, it also compliments Indian spicy curries and tandoori preparations
ABOUT THE STAY AT SOMA VINE VILLAGE.
Soma Vine Resort- Soma Vine Village has a Resort and also offers Private Villas for bigger groups and familes. Soma Vineyard Resort offers a 29 room’s cozy resort, for a leisurely getaway- The perfect piece of heaven for the stressed out city folk. Take a dip in the vineyard pool, go the for a laid-back bicycle ride on the winding country roads, soak up the peaceful view and enjoy delicious food while sipping Soma wines only at Soma Vine Resort.
Soma Vine Villa- There are 2 villas of 7 rooms each and 1 of 3 rooms, designed and built by local craftsmen in the traditional contemporary style. Since we were 11 people, we decided to take 2 villas. One was a 7 Bhk villa and on was a 3Bhk villa. We divided ourselves in a group of 6 and 5 to occupy these Villas.The villas were luxurious having a private pool, a secluded garden and a in-house personal chef to pamper our taste-buds.
We entered our villa and Nupur Joshi, who was heading us at the Soma Vine Village was there to take us through the history of Soma Vine Village. She also introduced us to Mr. Pradeep Pachpatil, the owner of Soma Vine Village. We then commenced our lunch at the Villa which was made by the Maharaj at the Villa. We tired some Garma Garam Roti with Potato and Qualiflower Sabzi, Daal, Chicken Gravy and Rice. The food was absolutely incredible.
TYPES OF WINE DURING LUNCH
- Chenin Blanc Silver
This medium-sweet wine, warm yellow in color has been crafted with the grapes grown at our estate vineyards in Nasik valley. With Ripe tropical fruits on the nose, it offers luscious flavors of citrus, peach and melon. The wine shows up a great balance between the acid structure and the residual sugar making it smooth and creamy on the palate.
- Brut Cuvee
Soma Brut Cuvée is made from 100% Chenin cuvee, using the authentic traditional method. It has a beautiful aromatic complexity, ripe fruit and spicy aromas, with hints of roasted apples, on the nose. Bottle aged for 1-2 years on lees, golden in color with a subtle combination of structure, length and vivacity and velvety crisp very fine bubbles. With Flavors of pear, apricot and complex yeasty aromas, it leaves you with notes of fresh walnut.
After having Lunch with these brilliant Wines we decided to take an hour break and relax in our rooms. The rooms were spacious, neat and tidy, beds were comfortable, the temperature of the room was perfect. Our rooms also had Hammocks and Bean Bags to comfortably lay on. We then had quick tea and snacks and left for our Wine Tasting Session.
WINE TASTING SESSION-
Soma Vine Village brings you the opportunity to take India’s first boutique winery’s guided tour in which their Sommelier educate you upon wine making and take you through the processes of making Whites, Reds, Rose as well as sparkling wines (method champanoise), followed by wine tasting session in which they provide you an expert training upon techniques of tasting a wine and offer you some finest boutique wines to taste.
The tours and tastings goes on 7 days a week.

- Sauvignon Blanc Silver
This oxidative style of wine has been made considering the traditional practices of wine making and is a clear reflection of old world style. Straw in color, the wine is clear with a lush green tinge. Exotic tropical and marginally herbaceous with distinct flavors, offers excellent lingering finish with languid ripples of pineapple, peach, melons and lots more.
Food Pairing: Indian spices and north Indian cuisine.
- Sauvignon Blanc Gold
Crafted from our estate’s single vineyards in Nasik valley, this dry wine with medium body reflects a bright golden color with a green tint. Made in a reductive Style, tropical fruity flavors harmonizes very well with earthy, flinty and lengthy kiwi fruits, finishes with green herbs.
Food pairing tip: Compliments well with sea food, salads and Gujarati cuisine.
- Chenin Blanc Gold
This off-dry wine has been made using handpicked grapes from our single estate vineyards. Light yellow-golden in color, the wine offers subtle notes of pineapple, guava, passion fruit and coconut on the nose with smooth texture and crisp acidity.
Food Pairing: Pairs well with dairy products, chicken and seafood preparations.
- Shiraz Cabernet
This lively dark red, fruit driven blend crafted from the individually handpicked grapes of our own estate vineyards, offers subtle flavours of black pepper and spices, complimented by juicy ripe plums, black berries, followed by gentle lingering oakiness.
This soft, smooth and well-structured wine is well balanced between the acid and ripe, integrated tannins. Compliments most barbeque dishes and north Indian foods.
- Sec Taie
This Taie sparkling wine is made from handpicked grapes of Chenin Blanc and local varietals of our own estate vineyards by using method Champenoise. Bottle aged for 1-2 years on lees, yellow-golden in color, there is a subtle combination of structure, length and vivacity and velvety crisp fine bubbles. The palate carries through with a creamy sensation and vivid flavor of ripe pear and pineapple.
Food pairing tip: This distinctly made wine pairs very well with grilled and spicy dishes.
- Sauvignon Blanc Dessert
Unique in its style a treat to the dessert wine lovers, a still sea of light gold with sticky viscosity. Perfumed pineapple and ripe peaches take up the nose fruit on the palette is sticky sweet but still balanced with a light structure and a lingering finish, with pineapple, peaches and a tiny note of honey dew.
Food pairing tip: Perfect dessert on its own, it compliments a wide variety of desserts.
- Chenin Blanc Dessert
This golden wine from our estate vineyards with fresh, sumptuous peach, dried apricot flavors, overlaid with tropical lushness of melon and pineapple. Pampering you with ripe sweetness, yet tangy but sweet and sour zip flavors like baked apples with honey on the finish. Amazingly balanced and a magical palate offered, kicks in with flavor blast, crisp acidity.
Food pairing tip: A perfect dessert on its own, it compliments a wide variety of desserts.
After this amazing session of WineTasting held by Nupur Joshi we decided to go for some Adventure Sports.
We could feel the adrenaline rush with our never ending adventure options and hoped on a variety of adventure and sports activities with friends. A perfect place to enjoy a great holiday doing Rockclimbing, Gokarting, Zipline, High rope and Low rope activities, and much more fun packed activities. We literally had a blast here.
We then visited to the amphitheatre, the most beautiful location of Soma Vine Village. Our dinner was setup in the open amphitheatre and let me tell you that it was freezing cold there even though we are talking about March. The dinner was beautifully done and paired with Wine. After finisheing our dinner we went back to our villas to chill. Our private garden had beautiful lights and sitting arrangements done for us to chill.
We got up in the morning, quickly took shower in our comfortable bathrooms with stylist fittings and left for Breakfast.
We were offered a complimentary breakfast with our package which was lavish. It had a brilliant variety of dishes. From south Indian to North Indian, sandwiches, fruits and what not. The breakfast table had a stunning view. After our Breakfast was completed we decided to go to the Pai Cheese Farm.
Pai Cheese Farm
Pai Farm Villa is one of our best offering for Red Grapes customers those who are looking for privacy & nature at its best. Pai Farm villa is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Pai a lovely couple who are young at heart and love to receive guest. The farm villa is beautifully placed at the foot hills of a mountain facing gangapur water dam and surrounded by various plants and trees planted with in the property. The best part is 3 famous wineries (Sula, York and Soma wineries) are within the range of 3 kms were you can walk or reach by cycle. Here we tried a variety of cholesterol free, freshly made different types of Cheese. Mr. and Mrs. Pai literally made our experience the one to remember.
We then headed back to our Villa, packed our bags with memories and were ready to head back to Mumbai. Our trip to Soma Vine Village was 2days trip which I wish never ended. The beauty, simplicity and calmness of this place is something that I cherished the most and is something that we all miss while we live in the chaotic city.
