Tata Tigor Sedan India Launch The Tata Tigor compact sedan will launch on 29th March 2017 as the Indian automaker eyes sizeable market share in the volume pumping sub-four metre sedan segment. Ahead of the debut, it was showcased at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show.
TATA TIGOR PRICE
The Tata Tigor sedan will be positioned below the Zest sub-4m sedan and thus expect it to be priced much lesser than its bigger sibling. The third sub-four metre sedan from the brand is more likely to be priced ultra-competitively as the Tiago. The starting price is predicted to be around Rs. 4 lakh while the top-end could ask for around Rs. 5.5-6 lakh.
TATA TIGOR SEDAN ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS-
As for the mechanicals, the Tata Tigor sedan will be powered by a new family of three-cylinder engines developed by the Indian auto giant. Both the engines made debut on the Tiago hatchback and will have multiple drive modes such as City and Eco. With identical mechanicals, there will be good amount of component sharing as well to keep the production costs low. The 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, REVOTRON, MPFI petrol mill develops 85 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm and comes coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox.
The 1.05-litre, REVOTORQ, three-cylinder, CRDI turbo diesel motor produces 70 PS at 4,000 rpm and 140 Nm of peak torque between 1,800 rpm and 3,000 rpm. It will also be paired with a five-speed manual and an Automated Manual Transmission could be introduced in a later time of its lifespan.
TATA TIGOR SEDAN MILEAGE
We predict the petrol to return a fuel economy in the vicinity of 20 kmpl while the diesel could spring out in the region of 25 kmpl.
TATA TIGOR SEDAN DIMENSIONS
It will be produced at Tata’s production base in Sanand, Gujarat and will measure about 3,995 mm in length, 1,677 mm in width and 1,537 mm in height. With a wheelbase of 2,450 mm it is believed to offer more room at the rear due to the uncanny approach to the roofline not seen on any other conventional sub-4m sedans so far.
TATA TIGOR SEDAN BOOSTSPACE
Tata Tigor Bootspace 419 litres Most alluringly, the bootspace will be class-leading at 419 litres. Compared to the Swift Dzire, it allows for more than 100 litres of extra luggage room.
TATA TIGOR SEDAN GROUNDCLEARANCE
It features a similar ground clearance to the segment leading Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire sedan at 170 mm. However, compared to Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent the ground clearance is 5 mm more on the Tigor.
TATA TIGOR SEDAN EXTERIOR
The successor of the Indigo eCS will be positioned below the Tata Zest sedan and is built on the same platform as the recently launched Tiago hatchback. It will have short overhangs, stubby rear-end and a honeycomb grille up front carried over from the Tiago but similarities end at the C-pillar. Adopting Tata’s new design language called Impact, the engineers of the Indian brand have decided to adopt a new theme that would prioritise on the looks as well as cabin room.
Unlike the sub-four metre sedans currently sold, the Tata Tigor has a sloped roofline that gives a coupe-ish appeal. Due to that, the boot won’t be as stubby as any other below-four-metre sedans but the clever positioning of the seats meant that the bootspace is class-leading while the rear occupants will have sufficient legroom. It can be said that the Tigor is the most well-proportioned sedan of the lot. The design language is more fluent and doesn’t make you feel like it has been compromised.
TATA TIGOR SEDAN INTERIORS
The Tigor sedan will feature a multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, Harman entertainment system with five-inch screen and eight-speaker audio as seen at the Auto Expo, navigation provision, piano-black centre console and dashboard design carried over from the Tiago hatchback. The interior material quality will be same as the Tiago which we quite liked in its price range.
